I think most people think of writer’s block as staring at a blinking cursor with no ideas.
In my experience, that’s rarely the real problem.
More often, writer’s block is disguised as exhaustion, anxiety, grief, or simply trying to carry too much at once.
Sometimes the story is still there—you just don’t have the emotional or physical energy to write it.
I’ve stopped trying to fight those seasons. Instead, I remind myself that creativity isn’t measured by daily word counts alone. Sure, that is still part of if for me, and most authors… but it isn’t everything. Some days writing means outlining. Some days it means researching. Some days it means giving yourself permission to rest and not write at all.
Progress doesn’t always look like another chapter or even another paragraph.
Sometimes it looks like protecting the writer so the stories can continue tomorrow… or the next day… or even a month down the road.
