The Enforcer’s Possession

Ruthless Alliances #1

by Harley Wylde

Genre: Dark Mafia Romantic Suspense

A contract of power. A marriage of enemies. A love written in blood, bound by desire.

Caterina: My father thinks he owns me. A spoiled mafia princess, good for one thing — marriage to strengthen his empire. But I refuse to be sold to a cruel man. If he wants an alliance, I’ll give him one — on my terms. So I go to Dante De Luca, the De Luca family’s most dangerous enforcer. Cold. Controlled. Lethal. Our contract marriage is supposed to be business, not desire. Then he touches me, and everything I thought I knew about power and control shatters.

Dante: Caterina Lombardi doesn’t know what she’s started. She wants protection. I want her. She thinks she can use me to defy her father, but once she’s mine, she stays mine. She’s fire wrapped in silk — reckless, beautiful, and born to test every rule I’ve ever followed. But in our world, rebellion comes with blood, and enemies are closing in. I’ll burn everything to protect her… even if it means becoming the monster she fears.

A dark mafia romance filled with obsession, betrayal, and dangerous passion. For readers who love possessive alpha heroes, spoiled princess heroines, enemies-to-lovers heat, and contracts written in blood.

WARNING: Intended for readers 18+ The Enforcer’s Possession includes dark and possessive elements, emotional intensity, and morally gray behavior.

Author Interview with Harley Wylde

Did you always want to be a writer?

Yes, and no. I loved animals so much, when I was only a few years old, I’d tell people I wanted to be an animal doctor. Once I was a little older, I changed my answer. I fell in love with writing even in elementary school. But I was always told that writing wasn’t a career, it was a hobby. It wasn’t until  my 20’s I took the plunge and submitted a finished novel to a small press. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Do you only write Mafia romances?

I actually write a lot of different romance genres, and have more than one pen name. As Harley Wylde, I write mafia, motorcycle club, blue collar bad boys, and the occasional fantasy motorcycle club. My other pen names cover anything from historical romance to young adult and even erotica.

What is the hardest thing about being an author?

Deadlines! That’s the one thing I struggle with the most. Between the demands of my family, the random bits of chaos that are never planned, and my health issues, I’m always fighting to get things turned in on time. More often than not, I missed my date by at least a day or two.

What keeps you going when you’re exhausted and want to give up?

Music and coffee. Sometimes, my playlists fit the theme of the book. Other times, it’s songs that kept me motivated to write (or awake). And I’m addicted to Starbucks white mochas, so I almost always have one before I start working.

How can readers meet you in person?

I attend several book events each year. You can find the schedule on my website, but my next two events are in March 2026:  Authors Rocking Little Rock in Little Rock, AR and Tempted & Tantalizing in Raleigh, NC.

Greed

7 Deadly Sins MC #4

by Kay Maree

Genre: Dark MC Romance

PAYTON
Greed – Defined by the dictionary as an excessive and insatiable desire for more wealth, power, or possessions than one needs.
I’m not the type of girl who wants or needs all that.
The only thing I am greedy for is my freedom.
Freedom to live.
Freedom to be free.
But…
Darkness is my burden.
It clings to me daily, trying to drag me down into its cold clutches.
I do my best to fight its pull, but sometimes surrendering to its power is more alluring than living in fear.
Pain = Love Bear or Man?
Being with another man scared me more than the darkness chasing me, but then I met him…
He knocked down all my carefully constructed walls…
He unlocked all my dark fantasies I had kept hidden for so long, and he savoured every single one, stoking the fire to a crescendo that living without him now wasn’t an option.
Jag was my Dark Broken Angel…
The man who brought me back to life.

JAG
Payton came waltzing into my life with a broken smile that drew me in.
Had me craving things I had blocked out years ago.
In her mind, Love = Pain, and I was on a mission to prove her wrong at every turn, even if that meant watching her from the shadows until she was ready for me…
Us.
One sheltered look lured me in.
One kiss brought me back to life.
All her dark fantasies she locked away, afraid to set free, were now mine.
Payton is my imperfect, perfect sin…

15 Signs You’re an Urban Fantasy Reader

Urban fantasy readers are a special breed of book lover… and I should know, because I am one! You know the type — the ones who thrive on stories where magic hides in plain sight, supernatural creatures blend into city crowds, and danger lurks just past the neon glow of a streetlamp.

If that sounds familiar… well, you might just be one of us.

Here are 15 unmistakable signs you’re definitely an urban fantasy reader:

1. You secretly assume every big city has a hidden supernatural underworld.

Sure, tourists see restaurants, office buildings, and buses…
But you? You’re wondering which alleyway the shifters use or which skyscraper hides the vampire court.

2. You love a good mix of magic + mayhem.

Throwing spells in a dark alley?
Chasing demons between speeding cars?
A battle scene in a parking garage?
Perfection.

3. You think magical abilities should come with emotional baggage.

Teleportation? Cool.
The crushing guilt from accidentally teleporting someone’s coffee into a wall? Even better.

4. You prefer your heroes flawed, fierce, and just a little morally gray.

Sure, save the world…
But maybe also threaten a demon for information or bend the rules of magic if necessary.
We get it.

5. You’ve definitely fallen for at least one brooding supernatural love interest.

Angel? Demon? Vampire? Shapeshifter? You have a type — and it’s “dangerous but has a redemption arc.”

6. You believe every tattoo in an urban fantasy book means something important.

Runes. Wards. Ancient symbols. You don’t even need context. If a character has ink, you’re already suspicious.

7. You love when a city becomes its own character.

From gritty alleyways to rooftop hideouts, you’re here for stories where the setting breathes just as much as the characters.

8. Your favorite trope? The hidden magic society.

And you’ll happily devour every book where the “normal world” has no idea what’s happening right under their noses.

9. You’ve said “just one more chapter” at 2 a.m. and meant it.

Urban fantasy is addictive. Cliffhangers? Even worse. Sleep? Optional.

10. You love a strong female lead who doesn’t back down.

Bonus points if she’s sarcastic, stubborn, and has a tendency to run directly toward danger.

11. You get overly excited by supernatural group dynamics.

The loyal best friend. The unstable magic-user. The mysterious mentor. The team that shouldn’t work… but does. Give you a found-family cast and you’re all in.

12. You enjoy when villains believe they’re the hero.

Urban fantasy thrives on moral complexity — and you’re here for every deliciously complicated antagonist.

13. You judge books by their supernatural creatures.

“Oh, this one has vampires AND fae? Say less.” Your TBR pile: instantly grows by seven.

14. You believe magic belongs in the modern world.

Skyscrapers and sorcery? Parking lots and prophetic visions? Cell phones and spell books?
Absolutely. Bring it on.

*15. You’ve imagined yourself living in an urban fantasy world.

Would you be the hunter? The witch? The elemental? The reluctant chosen one?
You’ve definitely decided — probably more than once. COMMENT BELOW AND LET ME KNOW!

If you nodded along to most of these… congratulations — you’re officially an urban fantasy reader. And honestly? It’s one of the best fandoms to be part of.

The worlds are exciting, the characters unforgettable, and the blend of magic + modern life is endlessly addictive.

So go ahead — pour yourself another cup of coffee, grab your next read, and dive back into the shadows where all the magic lives.

Born Like This

Maizemerized Book 2

by Maggie Blackbird

Genre: Historical Paranormal Time-Travel Romance

She went back in time to rescue him.  She never counted on falling in love…

Alma Whitecrow prefers hunting and fishing with men, not romancing them. But hearing about the roguishly handsome coureur de bois, who saved her sister from the Dakota, haunts her thoughts and dreams. Well-versed in surviving the wilds, Alma resolves to travel to the mid-eighteenth century, as her sister once did, to save the man from impending death.

Charlot Baudelaire thumbs his nose at society’s expectations, content living as a loner, trading with people he calls the Saulters. If he needs a woman for the night, there is always a willing maiden. What he doesn’t expect is a spunky and stubborn female warrior to challenge him.

Charlot is not the man Alma dreamed about, and Alma is not the kind of woman Charlot pursues. But the longer they are together, the more drawn to each other they become, until Alma faces the biggest decision of her life. Stay with a man who may never reciprocate her love, or return to her Ojibway home and bland existence.

Born For This

Maizemerized Book 1

She’s always been obsessed with her ancestors, and now he’s offering her a chance to live with them… forever.

Second-year university student Edie Whitecrow gobbles up each course on Indigenous studies. If only she could experience the lives of her Anishinaabe ancestors instead of reading about them. On her way to a Halloween party decked out as a historical Ojibway maiden, she spies a corn maze in a spot known to be barren.

A scarecrow figure beckons Edie to enter with the enticing offer of making her biggest wish come true. She jumps at the chance and finds herself in the past, face to face with the man who haunts her dreams—the handsome brave Thunder Bear. He claims he’s spent twelve years waiting for Gitche Manidoo to send her to him.

Life in the eighteenth century isn’t what Edie romanticized about, though. When her conscience is tested, she must choose between the modern day or the world of her descendants—where the man she was born for resides.

Book Titles:

For the book series title, I came up with Maizemerized because each character is “mesmerized” by the corn maze and their adventure into the past.  So I combined mesmerized with the corn maze they enter.  Hence “Maizemerized.”

I’m a huge fan of The Cult, a hard rock band from the 80s.  Some of their lyrics are quite mystical.  I found the songs really suited the essence of the series.  The Cult has a song called Born into This, so I played on that title with the first book in the series called Born for This, since the heroine is born to be a part of her ancestors’ Ojibway village when she travels back in time via the corn maze.

As for the second book, Born Like This, again plays on The Cult song since Alma is a female warrior in contemporary times who is a misfit and can’t find her footing.  But once she ventures back into time, she knowing being “born like this” is perfect for the interior of Canada during the mid eighteenth century.

I am currently working on the third book (which will be fully drafted by the time this post goes live) in the series titled Born into This.  I used the actual song title because the heroine for this novel is “born into” her ancestral land when the hero travels back in time and meets her.

Then there is the final book in the novel called Born Again (which I will be writing by the time this post goes live).  I won’t give away too much, but it will feature Fire Woman and Thunder Bear from the first book Born for This.

Turning 50: A Celebration of Art, Family, and Stories – PLUS A GIVEAWAY!

November 26th marks a big milestone for me — my 50th birthday. I’ll admit, that number has been sitting with me in a strange way. There’s something about it that feels both heavy and profound. But instead of focusing on the number, I want to celebrate the journey that brought me here — and the art, family, and community that have shaped me along the way.

I’ve always been an artist. As a kid, I filled sketchbooks with drawings and painted anything I could get my hands on. Creativity was my language — the way I understood and expressed the world around me. In college, I discovered the magic of theatre and film, and that love carried me all the way to California after graduation. I chased stories on stage and on camera, learning what it meant to bring characters to life.

When my husband and I moved to Alabama in 2004, the curtain didn’t fall — it simply shifted. I found a vibrant theatre community here, both on and off the stage. And when film opportunities weren’t as accessible, writing became my new creative outlet. It started as a whisper — a need to tell stories — and grew into a lifelong passion.

Since publishing my first novel in 2012, I’ve written worlds born from imagination, heart, and a deep love for storytelling. Each book has been a reflection of my creativity — as an artist, as a dreamer, as a human being trying to make sense of the world. But none of it would have been possible without my family. Their love, patience, and unwavering support have carried me through every chapter. Being a wife and a mom are my greatest accomplishments — everything else, every creative endeavor, is built on that foundation of love.

And then, of course, there’s you — my readers. Your encouragement, your messages, your shared excitement about my books… my stories mean more to me than you could ever know. You’ve helped turn my art into something living, something shared.

So, to celebrate this milestone birthday and to give back a little of the joy you’ve given me, I’m hosting a Birthday Giveaway! 🎁

One man against the world

The Quest for Freedom

The Conquest Trilogy Book 1

by Matthew Devitt

Genre: Dark Epic Fantasy, Action, Adventure

Affer was once a peaceful planet, until a war broke out between its six inhabiting species. The humans, who were once the mightiest force on Affer, were massacred in droves, and the ones who survived the onslaught were reduced to mere slaves. The five other species divided the humans amongst themselves and returned to their respective kingdoms.
The years passed, turning into decades and centuries, without any change. Eventually, the humans had accepted their fate as slaves. All except one. Four hundred and seventy-three years later, Fletcher Rush starts his journey to free his kind…and conquer the planet.

I’ve always had a love for fantasy, and to this day LOTR and The Inheritance Cycle remain some of my favorite books. There are limitless possibilities when you’re writing, but with fantasy, it’s different. You don’t have to adhere to rules or logic; you can create whatever type of world you want. Characters can live in a dystopian society, a grand futuristic city, a picture-perfect world, or a medieval wasteland. Time, technology, and magic are all there for the taking, and as a writer, you get to choose what defines your story.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Currently, I’m working on the second book in the trilogy, then I’ll move on to the last book in the series. After that, you’ll have to wait and see!

Do you have any “side stories” about the characters?

Not at the moment, but I have thought about it, and I do intend to add side stories/bonus stories once I finish the series.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Quest For Freedom?

I’ll be honest: there are too many characters to cover them all while also giving them the descriptions they deserve. But I’ll give a description of my two favorite characters. Fletcher Rush is the main character of Conquest and the leader of the rebellion. Like all humans, he starts as a slave. However, unlike others, he doesn’t plan to stay one. From the moment he was put to work, Fletcher vowed to change Affer forever. Training his body and mind, he prepares to escape enslavement until the day finally comes. After he becomes free, he quickly proves that he is a natural-born leader. He rallies his men behind him and strikes fear into all who face him. Even when the odds seem insurmountable, Fletcher still

charges headfirst into them. No battle is too large for him, and nothing will hold him back from freeing mankind.

Ji is Fletcher’s first ally and his right hand. Having helped Fletcher escape from Titanan, he has been aiding him since the beginning. Ji might not be as strong as Tor, as smart as Crystal, or as capable a leader as Fletcher, but he learns quickly and is

always the undisputed voice of reason. As they conquer city after city, Ji becomes more resilient and a better leader, worthy of standing by Fletcher’s side. He still has a lot to learn, but he plays a crucial part in the human army.

Where did you come up with the names in the story?

Many of the names for the characters just came to me, but for some, I looked through a list of names and picked out one I liked. The names for the cities, creatures, and the unique names were harder. The way I did it was to pick a letter that I wanted it to start with and play around until I found something I liked.

Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

Every time I write, I learn. I always strive to give everything my best, and with writing, I tend to get better and better with each story I finish.

Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

If you enjoy fantasy, I can guarantee you’ll love The Quest For Freedom.

What is your favorite part of this book and why?

I can’t say too much, otherwise I’ll spoil it. But, the fourth battle of the book is undoubtedly my favorite. It’s a massive part I build up to, and it came out even better than I had hoped for.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.

Now here’s a question I really like! Conquest was made to go against the grain. It encapsulates the brutality of war, which I feel is often overlooked in fantasy. The world and characters are both meant to feel as real and lifelike as possible, while still keeping that fantasy spark. From the Yoxtoll Forest with pale white trees towering into the sky, to the scorching Argon Desert, it feels like a place you could visit, and the characters are no different. Each person and each species has something unique about them, while also keeping to the traits of their species.

Conquest redefines what fantasy is capable of by going where others won’t.

What did you edit out of this book?

More than I even remember. I do have the unedited version saved, but I haven’t looked at it in ages. Some parts sounded great when I wrote them, but coming back with the final edit and reading over everything made me see them in a different light. The beginning had the most changes, but every part of the book was touched after I had “finished” it.

How many times does a genius have to die anyway?

A rogue AI named Nessie makes answering that question problematical.

A Once-Dead Genius in the Kennel of Master Morticue Ambergrand

Dead Geniuses Book 1

by R. Gary Raham

Genre: Science Fiction

What happens when you die, but the universe isn’t done with you?

You might end up as the pet of a giant worm-a-pede alien and…if you survive your evolved descendants and rogue aliens of 1 million A.D…discover you have more in common with intelligent worms than you ever thought possible.

Yes, all this might happen if you are Rudy Albert Goldstein—the discoverer of the Biomic Network Algorithm—who thought his time had come. He had done his part to make the world a better place. Now he deserved—even looked forward to—a peaceful and mercifully succinct death. But the universe had other plans…

What reviewers are saying:

“The arch tone should remind readers of Kurt Vonnegut, although Raham is better grounded in exobiology and science and displays a more upbeat outlook for the human (and nonhu man) condition in this engaging tale.” Kirkus Reviews

“A Once-Dead Genius is filled with fascinating characters that we hu mans can learn a lot from (despite the fact that we are, as one of Gary’s characters puts it, ‘primates with delusions of grandeur’). The plot is solid, the action entertaining and philosophically challenging, and the science is great.” Michael Carroll, Astronomical artist, journalist, and author of Europa’s Lost Expedition

A Singular Prophecy

Dead Geniuses Book 2

When young paleontologist, Ryan Thompson, finds a new species of mosasaur in Cretaceous seaway sediments, he is thrilled. Joy quickly turns to fear when he touches an artifact buried among the sea reptile’s ribs. Suddenly, he must fight a mental takeover by an alien intelligence committed to transforming the Earth into a refuge for her own species. As Ryan and his girlfriend, Skeets, attempt to thwart alien plans to colonize Earth begun in the deep past, even this crisis becomes trivial when the uneasy symbiosis of Ryan and the alien, Siu, generates a new entity with the power to transform the entire universe.

What reviewers are saying:

“Gary Raham, the author of this enthralling book, seems almost to have been there hundreds of millions of years ago when Siu’s dim star blinked out and the trees began to die on the planet known as Grove. This is the magic of good writing, and Raham is no less convincing as he describes the discovery by modern paleontologists on Earth of the jewel-like engram that has carried the genetic imprint of Siu through a galactic gate, out of the void of deep time, and into our lives.”

A Twice-Dead Genius Comporting With Misunderstood Abominations

Dead Geniuses Book 3

Rudyard Albert Goldstein, inventor of the Biomic Network Algorithm, made peace with death in the 22nd century. But an idiot doctor hijacked his mind, placing it in the care of Nessie, an impish AI guardian. Then, he died again, nearly a million years later, merged with a worm-a-pede alien male sated after completing his conjugal obligations. They expired peacefully on a cliff top, pondering the nature of existence—and the promise of abominable liaisons.

Two deaths should be quite sufficient for any genius to endure.

Somehow, though, Nessie resurrected him from oblivion. His descendants needed him again. New hostile aliens roamed the Earth—along with a mysterious immortal hybrid with powers that rivaled those of Nessie. Was the healthy young body Nessie had prepared for him, along with the prospect of meeting a maker of universes, enough of a bribe to risk dying a third time?

Apparently so.

Readers of Raham’s A Singular Prophecy (Biostration, 2011), and A Once-Dead Genius in the Kennel of Master Morticue Ambergrand (Penstemon Publications, 2018) will reconnect with old friends (both human and alien). But even those new to the author’s quirky sense of humor will enjoy this third adventure that spans the breadth of time and space.

What reviewers are saying:

“After reading and reviewing the 2018 release of “A Once-Dead Genius in the Kennel of Master Morticue Ambergrand,” I could not imagine where Raham’s distant future could take us that would outdo that fine novel. But this author is clearly writing on a different plane because “A Twice-Dead Genius Comporting with Misunderstood Abominations” is even more intriguing and entertaining.” Pat Stoltey, Author of Wishing Caswell Dead

Naked apes, gigantic worm-a-pedes, alien life forms galore. Gary Raham’s latest does not disappoint. It’s yet another cosmic-scale adventure with fascinating characters and a riveting, amusing story.

Not Quite Dead Geniuses at Large on an Angry Planet

Dead Geniuses Book 4

How many times does a genius have to die anyway? Rudyard Albert Goldstein, inventor of the Biomic Network algorithm, asked himself—and his AI guardian, Mnemosyne (aka Nessie)—that question many times in the course of their million-year relationship. Nessie didn’t play fair, making multiple copies of him from time to time in an effort to preserve his precocious species, H. sapiens from natural disasters, invading aliens, their own self-destructive proclivities, and even from the now angry planet that gave them birth.

Could Rudy & Nessie manage to convince multiple species, each with their own unique delusions of grandeur, to work together to avert their own extinctions? Could Rudy find a way to let Nessie finally set him free?

Only time—and the completion of an even vaster intellect—would tell.

What reviewers are saying:

“An increasingly madcap conclusion to an eco-themed SF saga of a weary Earth chafing under its alien tenants.” Kirkus Reviews

“One of the things I love about this series is the cast of imaginative characters, including human, alien, and the combinations of living creatures with the surviving intelligence of great minds long gone.” Pat Stoltey, author of Wishing Caswell Dead

Deep Time and Gary are close bud dies, as is evidenced by the panoramic time and physical settings taken in by his tales. Fans of the first Once-Dead Genius—and newcomers as well— will not be disappointed by the newest installment…” Michael Carroll, Astronomical artist, journalist, and author of Europa’s Lost Expedition

But Chase has plenty of problems of his own, and how to make amends with Jena and win her heart is at the top of the list. Unbeknownst to his pack, Jena is his fated mate, and after her leaving town the first time almost killed him, he’s not letting her get away again—no matter what the backlash might be.

Off Season

A Detective Ryan Mystery #1

Detective Ryan navigates drug overdoses, a mysterious foot on the beach and a long-buried cold case.

Detective Ramesh Ryan’s career with Sydney’s prestigious Organized Crime Unit is on the up, until he loses a court case against the city’s most powerful drug dealer. In disgrace, the detective is relocated to the tiny Australian beach town of Barton.

It is off-season in Barton-when its few criminals usually take a well-earned rest. But not this year! With the detective’s arrival, the town suddenly becomes murder central. Two bodies are discovered in the space of days, both victims of drug overdoses. Then a mysterious foot is found washed up on the beach, and memories are awoken of an unsolved cold case of the teenager who disappeared fifteen years ago. Add to this a blossoming romance, along with a contract taken out on Ryan’s life, and it’s clear that the detective has jumped out of the Sydney frying pan into the Barton fire.

What follows is an action-packed adventure, thrilling at every turn-where truth and lies are almost impossible to separate, and unexpected twists are the order of the day.

What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?

I do a lot of research before I start writing including checking up on police procedure, pathology etc.

Do you see writing as a career?

For me writing isn’t so much as a career, more as a necessity of life. I know this sounds pretentious so let me explain. There are many paths to take when considering writing as a career. You can become a journalist, write screenplays, work in public relations… it’s a long list.  Few of these paths lead to the writer earning big bucks. For the most part writing’s not that sort of career. However, most writers don’t have much of a choice. They really do feel the need to write, just as a painter has to paint, a musician has to be involved with some sort of music, an actor has to act… and so on.

What do you think about the current publishing market?

Difficult — both for writers and publishing companies to make a living, particularly with the advent of AI, and the mistaken belief that a machine can write with soul.

Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?

I read a lot when I’m not writing, predominantly thrillers.

Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?

I always try and write in silence because I find noise distracting.

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?

Several going at a time? You have got to be kidding.

A day in the life of the author?

For me an average day begins around nine o’clock when I settle in my office to start work. Exactly what I do for the next five hours or so depends on the stage I’m at with the book. First up I do research. Then it’s time for detailed plotting. Next its writing. For the first draft I just concentrate on getting words on a page. I don’t worry about inspiration at this stage. Then it’s time for the edit, when I work with an editor and try and knock some decent shape into the novel. Whatever the stage, I have to get out of my office, walk, exercise and meet friends daily. I also try and not think about work over the weekends, but refuel by eating out, seeing movies, going to the theatre or lying on the beach.

Advice they would give new authors?

As the great sage Nike said:  Just do it.

What makes a good story?

One that wants to make you find out what happens next.

What are they currently reading?

The Unquiet Grave by Dervla McTiernan

What is your writing process? For instance do you do an outline first? Do you do the chapters first?

I have tried both writing with just an outline, and writing after extensive plotting. The latter works best for me.

What are common traps for aspiring writers?

Procrastination. There are always reasons and distractions to prevent you actually sitting down and beginning work.

Inspiration. Don’t wait for this, it will rarely come.  When you write you have good and bad days — some when you feel pleased with the results and feel inspired, and others when you wonder why you bother.  However, when you finally complete the book you really won’t remember which day was which. It won’t matter. What will matter is that you’ve finished the book.

Writing to make your fortune:. It rarely ever happens. If it’s money you’re after rethink your priorities.   Forget writing and become a banker or an accountant.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Graphic love scenes.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

I don’t really know what my readers want. I prefer to write something that I believe I would like to read.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

That they are from the opposite sex.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

Anything from one to two years.
