Week 19 – #WritingWednsday Challenge (1 day late)

Today is the 19th Edition of #WritingWednesday!!!

Remember, #WritingWednesday is an EASY, STRESS-FREE, weekly writing challenge.

  • Read the writing prompt below,
  • Spend 5 minutes writing (in your own voice or the voice of a character you’re writing) whatever comes to mind,
  • DON’T EDIT what you write! IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT!

The goal is 5 minutes of creativity.

Today I am writing in my own voice!

Today’s writing prompt:

What do you need right now?

Time! I need time.

It’s Thursday afternoon and usually I post my weekly Writing Wednesday post on, well… Wednesday. Unfortunately, or maybe luckily, I was on vacation this last week and my blog got put on the back burner. I think we all need a little me time, but right about now, I need more work time.

I’m trying to catch up, with everything. I have a stack of books about a mile high that I need to get through, a list of movies about two miles long that I need to watch and review, a number of author interview requests, blog posts to set up, and a self-publishing course to create.

So yeah, I need time. If you have any extra that you’d like to loan me, I’d forever be in your debt.

  1. ***I got the prompt from memory so it’s not quite right, but I think it’s close enough to still make sense. Also, I wrote for like 8 minutes because this one really got me thinking.

Today I am writing in the voice of Aaron, a character in my upcoming novel, Fleeting Shadows

What do I need more of? Oh my, so many things. Patience, I could definitely use some patience. I can not count the number of times I’ve blown up on Elyse over something stupid. She bats it off, but I can tell that it really sticks with her when I’m not around.Consistency, that’s something I could use some more of. See, I either act one of two ways. Either, I’m in your face, have no remorse for anything I say and am a ruthless monster or I would apologize if someone spilled soup on me. I just get defensive so easily. People in the castle question my past. A lot. Most of the servants here were born to families that have been serving the royals for generations, and they take pride in it. My family was brought in from some little hicktown, barely in Flame territory. However, now my father is one of the best surgeons the castle has, my mother’s needle-work is sought all over the kingdom, my brother has brought in some of the largest game ever and I’m dating the princess. The other servants resent us for it, it’s clear to see. They’re angry that we were brought to the castle for our skill rather than being born into a life of service. They get in my head sometimes. I won’t lie about that. Sometimes I believe them when they say that Elyse is only with me out of pity. I believe them when they say my mother’s work is so well known because Elyse once walked around wrapped in a shawl my mom made. Sometimes I believe them when they say other people make kills and give my brother credit. I believe them when they say my father is nothing spectacular, his coworkers are just mediocre. The worst of all is when I believe when they say that Elyse doesn’t love me. I know that she does and yet sometimes I let them affect me. So, truly, I guess what I need most is confidence.
