SYNOPSIS:Linguini, Loneliness, and Love is a comedic yet heartfelt play set in the closing hours of a small restaurant in Huntsville, Alabama. As the staff winds down after a long shift, three restaurant workers—an overworked waitress, a quietly devoted dishwasher, and a chef drowning her regrets in vodka—find themselves reflecting on life, dreams, lost opportunities, and unexpected connections.
With two mischievous commentators observing and riffing on the action from the sidelines, the evening unfolds through stories of rude customers, broken hearts, abandoned ambitions, and the fragile hope that love and purpose might still be waiting somewhere beyond the dining room doors.

Stacy Kingsley is an award-winning author of fiction and plays. Her zombie series is in its final stages, as she works on the last of the series, Zombimerica. She has two books that will be releasing soon – a science fiction/horror book and a non-fiction book about the stupid things people say when someone dies. Stacy published a book called Meowthin’ Off that included conversations with her cats, Maggie and Ruffus.
She is currently working on a few plays, and won an award for her play The Depth of Scars through the Rockey City Playwright Series. Stacy is in awe of actors and wish she had a little more talent to be in the plays, although maybe not in the ones she has written since they involve too many words and emotions. Linguine, Loneliness, and Love is her first long play (she mostly writes one act plays), and hopes everyone enjoys is.

NINA SODEN
Nina Soden is a storyteller, director, and producer with a lifelong passion for the stage. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts and Communications from Eastern Michigan University, Nina has spent decades working both onstage and behind the scenes in nearly every aspect of theatre production—from acting and directing to set design, stage management, and technical direction.
Her directing credits include beloved productions such as The Importance of Being Earnest, Arsenic and Old Lace, and You Can’t Take It With You, and she has brought compelling performances to life in roles ranging from classic drama to contemporary comedy. In addition to her theatre work, Nina has appeared in numerous films, commercials, and web productions, showcasing her versatility as a performer.
As the founder of Front Row Theatre Troupe, Nina is passionate about creating immersive, high-quality theatrical experiences that connect audiences and performers in meaningful ways. Her vision blends storytelling, community, and creativity—bringing theatre to life beyond the traditional stage.
Outside of theatre, Nina is an accomplished novelist and a successful real estate team leader in North Alabama, where she brings the same dedication, creativity, and heart to everything she does.
MEET THE CAST:
VALERIE LAWDENSKY as Monica
Dr. Valerie Lawdensky is a nuclear rocket analyst at NASA but always planned on being an actress. She took a break for college but since returning to acting in 2019, she’s performed in 3 musicals, 4 plays, and 1 musical staged production in Los Alamos, Albuquerque, and Huntsville. Her favorite roles were Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family Musical, Mrs. Whatsit in A Wrinkle in Time, Lydia Wickham and Mary Bennet in separate productions of Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberly, and Princess Fred in Once Upon a Mattress. She also proudly competed in the virtual competition Barbershop Royale making music videos and performing with her quartet. But she’s most excited to bring these local playwrights’ characters to life for the first time through Front Row Theatre Troupe!
JASON SUMMER as Albert
Jason has been acting in community theater since 2010, performing in Huntsville, AL, at the University of North Alabama, and in Valparaiso, IN. Some of his favorite roles include Rev. Oglethorpe from “Smoke on the Mountain”, Dr. Seward from “Dracula: Lord of the Vampires”, Col. Arbuthnot from “Murder on the Orient Express”, and The Old Man from “A Christmas Story”. Jason is excited to be part of his first dinner theater production and hopes you all enjoy the play!

Tanja Lewis Miller is honored to play a part in the newly formed Front Row Theatre Troupe. As Membership Director for Broadway Theatre League and Co-Owner of Evil Cheez Productions, the performance arts consume pretty much 99% of her life, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. So much love to Nina, her sis from another miss, for including her in this dream project. Love to the cast and crew and all the playwrights for their ridiculous talent. Love to Wayne, her favorite Shmoo. And thank YOU, the audience, for making all this possible!
STEPHANIE HYATT as Commentator 1 (4/23 & 4/24)
Stephanie Hyatt is thrilled for this opportunity to play with friends and as you enjoy good food! Her theater jaunts around Huntsville have been numerous, acting in shows with Theatre Huntsville, Fantasy Playhouse, and the beloved but defunct Renaissance Theatre. Lately, she’s been more busy costuming than acting, but is excited to share this stage with both friends and dinner!
STACY NEUBERGER VON-HOFFMAN as Commentator 2
Stacy Neuberger-von Hoffman has acted in a variety of genres and mediums. Stacy was in a few short films where she mostly had the privilege to die. As a child she was on television a few times, once on The Richard Simmons Show, and she was previewed on a few other television shows. Stacy tried out for and was in a few game shows as well. Stacy as been in productions of Clue, Duck Hunter Shoots Angel, Rocky Horror Show, The Hounds of Baskerville, Damsel of the Desert, and a few Shakespeare plays. She is excited to go on this new journey with the Front Row Theatre Troupe.
WAYNE MILLERas Rude Customer
Wayne Miller, when he’s not directing or producing for Evil Cheez Productions, occasionally appears onstage. And if he’s going to appear onstage outside of ECP, it has to be for a good reason – like Nina Soden. He thanks Nina for the chance to just act and sends love to Shmoo and krew.
PREMISE: A crew of space explorers wake up to find themselves in a blank world with only a giant red button in their midst.
SYNOPSIS: When a crew of space explorers suddenly wakes up in a blank dreamscape with only a giant red button in front of them, they panic. The last thing they all remember is being approached by an alien ship. After the initial shock and exploration, they realize they have nowhere to go and nothing to do but push the button. Over the course of the play, they discover that they all have secrets, and the worst one of all is that one in their number betrayed them to the aliens. If they don’t ferret out who and why, they’ll never get out.

The Power of Community — On Stage and Off
One of the things I love most about theatre is the sense of community it builds. Every production brings together people from different walks of life — all working toward a shared creative vision. It’s that same spirit of connection that drives me in real estate.
Helping someone find a home isn’t just about square footage or property lines — it’s about helping them find their place in a community. I’ve seen firsthand how the arts bring people together, and that’s why I’m so passionate about supporting local theatre through my real estate business.

Synopsis: In Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, the dysfunctional but wealthy Pollitt family gathers to celebrate aging patriarch Big Daddy’s birthday. But there is more to this gathering than a family reunion– Big Daddy, unbeknown to him, is dying of cancer. He is still to decide which of his sons will inherit the estate. His options include favorite son Brick, who drinks himself into oblivion in order to bear the desires of his determined wife, Maggie, or his less-favored son Gooper, his fertile wife Mae, and their “no-neck monster” children. While sensuous Maggie “the cat” tries to work her wiles to secure a future for them, Brick spirals deeper into despair, crippled by both physical pain and emotional loss. Synopsis: Oklahoma! is a musical set in 1906 Oklahoma Territory, centering on the romance between cowboy Curly McLain and farm girl Laurey Williams. Their love story is complicated by a rival suitor, the menacing farmhand Jud Fry. A comedic subplot follows Ado Annie’s romantic entanglements with her fiancé, Will Parker, and a traveling peddler, Ali Hakim. The musical’s story is driven by these relationships against the backdrop of a community preparing for statehood.

Step into the shadows and meet the extraordinary performers bringing two of literature’s most enduring Gothic tales to life. Our staged readings of Frankenstein and Dracula celebrate the timeless power of these dark classics while showcasing the incredible talent of our local theatre community. Here, you’ll get to know the cast members who will give voice, heart, and humanity to the monsters, heroes, and haunted souls at the center of Mary Shelley’s and Bram Stoker’s masterpieces all through the theatre adaptations of Wayne Miller, Evil Cheez Productions’ founder.
Ryan Rorick (Judas Ackery)
Ryan Rorick holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Montevallo and has worked professionally as an actor, director, and teaching artist. With over 120 credits to his name over the last 16 years, some select roles include Next to Normal (Dan), The Weir (Brendan), Rent (Mark Cohen), Henry V (King Henry), Chicago (Amos Hart), Romeo and Juliet (Romeo), and Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley (Arthur de Bourgh). By day he works as a high school theatre director, with directing credits including The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Clue, Chicago, Ernest and the Pale Moon, and, coming this spring, the north Alabama premiere of Frozen: The Broadway Musical.
Joy Whitt (Katheryn Ivy)
This is Joy’s 65th show with Evil Cheez in the last 5 years. These are her favorite people to work with! When she’s not doing plays, she walks around town with her dogs as much as possible. She loves black coffee. She wishes it was still the 90s.
Juan E. Bedolla (Frank Preston)
Juan is an animation director and producer. He is new to Cheez and to theater in general, but makes up for his lack of experience with eager enthusiasm and unearned confidence.
Byron Turner (Bernie Kowalski)
Byron is an Alabama native and has been involved in local theater on and off for 20 years. He has been a part of multiple productions for Theatre Huntsville, including Clybourne Park, Ultimate Christmas Show (abridged), The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, Radio Golf, God of Carnage, Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll, and The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. He was also an assistant director of TH’s production of Stick-Fly and directed TH’s production of Mountaintop.
Jonathan Bain (Judge Bartholomew Lyle)
Jonathan is a leasing agent by day and an actor by night. Jonathan has been acting in community theater for 14 years and some of his favorite roles have been Ty from Sordid Lives and The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come in A Christmas Carol and Jonathan Harker in Dracula!
Wayne Miller (Willy Ackery)
WJR Miller (“Wayne” to his friends and family; what his enemies call him wouldn’t be fit for inclusion here) is the owner/founder of EVIL CHEEZ PRODUCTIONS, an independent theatrical company, and has written, directed, produced (and occasionally performed in) over two-dozen stage plays, running the gamut from Horror and True Crime (his specialties) to musicals, children’s plays, comedies, and even the historical biography of a murderous shark. Michelle Huguley (Hazel Ackery)
Michelle started performing as soon as she was able to crawl, captivating and delighting audiences of various stuffed creatures. More recently, she’s appeared in Evil Cheez Productions’ Joey Harte Returns and The Return of The Rook. You may also remember her in such roles as Lizzie Borden in Bloodless, Mary Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life, and Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show. She sends loving regards to her three cats, who are less patient than her stuffed audiences of childhood, and her adoring husband Kevin, who forced her to put this part in.
Anna Clay Adams (Edmina Stokes)
Anna Clay Adams is very excited and grateful to be participating in this production with Evil Cheez! She lives and works in Tuscaloosa, but can never pass up the amazing opportunity to work with Evil Cheez and all the talented folks in North AL, so the commute is always worth it. She extends a special thanks to Wayne and Tanja for welcoming her into this family and allowing her the opportunity to create with them!
Tanja Lewis Miller (Norma Hoffman)
Tanja Lewis Miller, aka Queen Cheez, is overjoyed to reprise the role of Norma Hoffman in “The Trial of The Rook,” as it is one of her favorite of her hubby’s plays. She sends all the love to her Shmoo and her Cheez family. And a special thanks to all of you, the Cheez supporters, for without you, Cheez wouldn’t be Cheez!

Ariel Terrell (Livonia Douglas)
Born in Arizona, Ariel’s love for acting began with reciting “Crooklyn” lines in the mirror. Fast forward to 18 and she’s graduating from Mississippi School of the Arts. After gaining a BA from Mississippi State, Ariel found her way to Huntsville. Like any other grown-up theatre kid, she has found her way back to the stage over the years in several local roles. But Livonia Douglas is an honor of a role that will live with her forever.
Andrew Foxx (Red Nelson/Rupert Horne/Bailiff)
Andrew Foxx (Red/Rupert) has been involved in North Alabama theatre both on-stage and backstage for years. He has most recently been involved with Evil Cheez Productions and Bank Street Players.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR ~ WJR Miller
WJR MILLER is the owner and creative director of Evil Cheez Productions and is the Grand High Poobah of Cheezism (hence his “high priest” vestments), the movement he founded (it isn’t organized enough to be called a religion, besides which it isn’t religious) dedicated to providing audiences with the finest in entertainment options on the page and for the stage. On the big screen, too, if Spielberg ever returns any of his phone calls. WJR has been writing stories literally since before he learned his alphabet—he drew pictures. After languishing in the nether-regions of the publishing industry for years, working as an acquisitions editor for a literary agency, he chose, as an experiment, to combine his passion for writing with his hobby of Theatre, and in the process, by accident and providence, discovered his life’s purpose: to be a showman.
Miller is a devotee of Ed Wood, the “worst director of all time!” who inspires Miller due to his unflappable dedication to his muse and unrestrainable creative drive. During performances of one of his shows—he has written, directed, and produced (and occasionally acted in) over two dozen stage plays—Miller sports pink attire as a tribute to Ed Wood, who did the same. (The cheese wedge hat he wears is self-explanatory.)
DRACULA: LORD OF THE VAMPIRES and FRANKENSTEIN: THE UNTOLD STORY are both adaptations from Evil Cheez Productions, starring some of your ECP favorites, and both are rated PG, so they’re safe for the kiddies! (Like, maybe don’t bring your toddler, but otherwise you should be good to go!)
The twin titans of terror, the two most famous (or is that “infamous”) names in horror history! Two performances, staged as old-fashioned radio plays…but which one will you see? We don’t know, and we won’t know until showtime! For the special matinee showing, the audience gets to vote on which of the two plays they’d rather see!
Dracula: The Lord of the Vampires
Everybody and their kid sister knows the story of Dracula…but you’ve never seen it like this! The Brides have expanded characters! Renfield is a woman! And they get rid of Jonathan Harker, the most useless character in all of literature! (Okay, it was actually the playwright who did that, but it’s worth the price of admission just to see Harker “bite” it!) Oh, and the vampire Count meets the man who revealed his identity to the world—Bram Stoker!
Performed as an old-fashioned radio play, but with the audience in the room, DRACULA: LORD OF THE VAMPIRES is the perfect spooky treat! Rated PG, so it won’t give the kiddies nightmares.

Frankenstein: The Untold Story
It’s the classic story you know and love, but with an Evil Cheez twist! Victor Frankenstein sought to create life, and instead created a Monster! But was the scientist’s hubris to blame…or his lack of empathy for the being he’d fashioned?
Performed as an old-fashioned radio play─but with the audience sitting in the recording studio!─FRANKENSTEIN: THE UNTOLD STORY reveals why it is the Monster ends up sharing the name of the mad scientist, and depicts the real-life scenario that resulted in 18-year-old Mary Shelley writing one of the greatest horror stories in human history.

Angel is thrilled to be accepted on the stage alongside the incredibly talented actors that make up Evil Cheez. Her acting credits include Marjorie Baverstock in Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 and Elsa in The Sound of Music. Angel wishes you to call her dad, as she’s now in a cult.
Brett Richardson
Brett Richardson is an actor, writer, and political activist originally from the Shoals area who loves living in Huntsville (but not fighting the traffic) and working with Evil Cheez.

Jason discovered his love for community theater in 2010 and, other than a year here or there, has been acting ever since. Throughout the last 15 years, he has been fortunate to establish long-term friendships with his fellow actors, directors, and techs. He is absolutely looking forward to working with many of them again during this run of Dracula and Frankenstein. Nina Soden is no stranger to the stage—or to keeping life dramatic in all the best ways. She’s appeared in and/or directed productions ranging from Dracula to Arsenic and Old Lace (because nothing says “fun night out” like fangs or poisoned elderberry wine). When she’s not wrangling actors, she’s wrangling her children… her husband… her clients and homes across North Alabama as a Realtor®—and yes, if you buy a home through her thanks to theatre, she’ll donate part of her commission right back to the local theatre company of your choice. Nina also hosts The Home Stretch, a weekly podcast, where real estate meets real talk (and the occasional caffeine-fueled monologue). Whether she’s behind the mic, on stage, hanging out with her family, or handing over house keys, Nina somehow manages to keep the drama where it belongs—on the stage—mostly.

As a child, the stories of Dracula and Frankenstein always intrigued me. The Idea that a writer could unlock doors in his mind and find these characters living and thriving was always amazing and felt just a bit out of reach. As a teenager, I was lucky enough to meet a writer/director who could do just that. This same published visionary wrote the show you are about to see. He took these already established characters and forged a new path. One that can ensure their survival for yet another generation. May they continue to enrich and haunt our dreams. It sometimes surprises folks to learn that my adaptations of Dracula and Frankenstein are my two least favorite scripts that I’ve written, given how much I adore those characters and those books (and the thousands of movies that have been made about them). But it’s precisely because I hold the source material in such high esteem that I feel this way. These two works, you understand, are only adaptations. In my mind they are not 100% mine, and in my mind they can never measure up to the novels written by Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley, respectively (nor those thousands of movies made about them). Still, in order for the stories to be brought to the stage, adaptations must happen, and several have. Some of them I hold in the same high regard, or close to it, as the original works. Others…not so much. I saw writing these scripts, then, as a way to craft the adaptations I personally always wanted to see on the stage. If Stoker and Shelley can’t write their own play versions (granted, I haven’t asked them; anybody got a Ouija board handy?) then the next best thing, I figured, would be to do it myself. I tried to create something the pair of them would approve of…or at least not hate too much.
I stand upon the shoulders of giants. Fortunately, their creations, their stories, lose little of their grandiosity when envisioned and interpreted by lesser talents. (And hey, concerning some of those other adaptations I mentioned, t’weren’t that hard to o’erleap the bars they set, if you catch my meaning.) I hope you enjoy these tales, then. They aren’t as good as the originals─no adaptation could be─but I daresay they’ll manage.

WAYNE MILLER, aka The Evil Cheezman, is the owner and chief creative director of EVIL CHEEZ PRODUCTIONS, specializing in providing the finest in entertainment for the stage, the page, and the screen. Miller has written, directed, and produced over a dozen independent stage plays and overseen numerous haunted attractions. He writes weekly content for the websites VAMPIRES.COM, WEREWOLVES.COM, ZOMBIES.ORG, TOPCOMICS.COM, and DARKNESS.COM and has been a featured film reviewer for Legless Corpse Films. A storyteller since before he learned the alphabet–he drew picture books–Miller is a devotee of Edward D. Wood, Jr. (“One is always considered mad when one perfects something that others cannot grasp.”) and William Castle. Think P.T. Barnum meets Edgar Allan Poe. That’s him.

I am excited to be bringing Mary Jane Kelly back to life, even if just for a few minutes, to tell her story. I am truly thankful to Wayne Miller, playwriter and co-owner of Evil Cheez Productions, for the beautiful words and the gracious permission to produce and direct this wonderful show. I am proud to have been able to work with such a wonderful cast and excited to be able to still bring theatre to an audience, even when so many theatres across the globe are still shut down due to COVID-19. Art is essential and will find ways, such as virtual theatre, to survive. Thank you, to all of you, for taking the time to watch this show.
When asked her thoughts on Mary Jane Kelly’s monologue, Nina had this to say: Her words, the way Wayne wrote her, is devastating. She had such hope in life. She had love, loss, joy, pain, determination, and below it all a deep sadness. I had the honor of playing her during the premier performance of The Belles of Whitechapel at The Lowery House many years ago when Wayne Miller directed it. Reconnecting with her has been like putting on a warm coat or slipping into my favorite pajamas; it is easy to slip into her skin and feel all of her emotions. Maybe its because of how well she is written, or maybe it is because on some level I think every woman can relate to her.
When asked about the process of performing virtual theatre, she said: Of course live theatre is always best with an audience. However, in this crazy pandemic life we are living in right now, I believe it is still important to be creating art in any way we can. Besides, as an actress, film has always been my passion, so being in front of a camera is completely natural for me. I love it! Being able to share Mary Jane Kelly with a broader audience is the icing on the cake. When it comes to stage vs. camera, I prepare for a role the same way. Memorization is memorization, and the lines come easy to me – they always have. I enjoy the character development process, I think that is why it is so easy to slip into a role and learn the lines. As a director, this process was a little harder. We conducted ZOOM rehearsals to ensure proper social distancing and did all of our communicating through Facebook. It wasn’t as easy as meeting face to face, but it worked. With just 2 short weeks to complete the project, I think everyone did a wonderful job.

As an actress, I hope to one day play all the roles so I can truly connect with each of them on an emotional level. Actress Haley Loveday
Haley Loveday has been in love with acting since 2010 when she auditioned for her very first play, Noises Off. Since then, she has had the honor of bringing roles such as Blanche DuBois in Streetcar Named Desire, Pickles in The Great American Trailerpark Musical, Evelyn Thompson in The Shape of Things, and most recently, Meg MaGrath in Crimes of the Heart, to life. She has also done some work in film and television. Haley lives in Huntsville with her wife and daughter and their 3 dogs, Bubsy, Pip, and Lucy. She loves to write, travel, and drink wine. She would like to thank Nina Soden for trusting her with this role and Wayne Miller for breathing life into The Belles of Whitechapel.
When asked her thoughts on Sarah Lewis’s monologue, Haley had this to say: Sarah Lewis is very different from my own character in that I found her to be very judgemental of the “unfortunates” and almost victim shaming when it came to their circumstances. I think she has layers of sympathy and humility, but it is often times over-shadowed by her piety. She is terrified when she realizes that she could have been just like the women that she looks down upon, no matter that she is an honest woman herself. I believe that she might have a history of prostitution or degeneracy, which was probably brought on by poverty in the past, but now that she is married and out of “the life” the idea that she could have potentially been mistaken for one of “those women” again might be worse to her than the fact that she met Jack the Ripper.
When asked about the process of performing virtual theatre, she said: The process of learning a monologue as long and as layered as this one in only 2 weeks, with a 1 year old running around, was really survival of the fittest. My wife was a big help in giving me an hour or two here and there to really dive in and razor focus. I would have liked more time to work through the piece, but having such a short time to learn it forced me to challenge myself and pushed me to jump in with both feet right away.
I enjoy monologues because they give you the opportunity to find levels in your work. There is a real peace in knowing that you have ultimate control over what you bring to the script and how it is presented. I also like the pressure of only having myself to rely on on stage or in this case, on film. I do prefer scene work and being on stage with a live audience over monologues and film, simply because having the response of the audience adds to the over all experience and energy of the experience each night. There is nothing quite like treading the boards under bright stage lights.

Actress Leslie Gates
LESLIE GATES is very excited to be part of this project. She has been seen on stage in Huntsville in The Importance of Being Earnest, The Diviners, Blithe Spirit, and Nunsense. Leslie is also the Executive Director of Theatre Huntsville. Thank you to Nina for such a fun opportunity and to Wayne for a great script.
When asked her thoughts on Elizabeth “Long Liz” Stride’s role, Leslie had this to say: Liz was a very interesting person. She was born in Sweden, and came to London for a better life. That didn’t seem to work out for her as she ended up on the streets, depending on charity and selling her wares to make ends meet. However, she did seem to have somewhat of an optimistic outlook. Liz seemed like she never gave up and never lost her sense of humor.
When asked about the process of performing virtual theatre, she said: Film is so different from the stage. It was a little intimidating to have the camera there – I really wasn’t used to that. And having the shorter time period was really different – especially the older I get. I tend to attach words to movement, so that was different as well. And I must admit I did miss the audience. But Nina was so supportive and patient that it was not as scary as I thought it would be.
Actress Gena Rawdon
Gena has been active in community theatre for 20+ years and is honored to be appearing in The Belles of Whitechapel for a third time. She would love to tell every belle’s story if she has the chance!
After working in the Shoals theater scene for seven years, her first show in Huntsville was Theatre Huntsville’s Sabrina Fair in 2000. She has consistently worked with community theatre companies in Huntsville, Florence and Guntersville throughout her career.
Her first opportunity for a movie role came in 2018, when she played “Maw” in “The Quiet”, a movie filmed in the Shoals.
Gena wants to thank Nina Soden and all the Belles for bringing these beautiful women and their haunting stories to light.
When asked her thoughts on Kate Eddowes’s role, Gena had this to say: Oh, Kate. I loved Kate for her brutal honesty and her vulnerability. To think about a woman who was brutally murdered telling people about how she ended up dying at the hands of a serial killer…..it’s so powerful. To portray a woman who struggled with poverty, classism and addiction during a time when women had no viable options is a humbling experience. Kate had a man she loved and I get the feeling they felt it was them against the world. She made some poor choices, sure. I have too, we all have. They didn’t cost me my life, though. Kate was a survivor. She had love in her life. She deserved a fighting chance, but Jack the Ripper’s success as a serial killer depended upon a society who didn’t give women and poor people a fighting chance. The deck was stacked against Kate, but she never gave up. I love her for that.
When asked about the process of performing virtual theatre, she said: I haven’t done much screen work, but I love the option of being able to do a retake if I flub a scene or want to record a better version. The quick turnaround was a little nerve-wracking, but I would do it again in a heartbeat to be able to tell this story!
I really miss not being able to collaborate with my fellow artists. I’m glad Leslie and I had a chance to play off each other. I look forward to the day that we can all be collaborating in person again!

Actress Sherri Ryan
Sherri Ryan has been fortunate to have been acting and directing for over 50 years… “Wow, sounds old when I say it that way,” she stated! As a theatre teacher, she says she was blessed to work with amazing Sparkman High School students until she retired in 2015. Her favorite rolls include, Mame in ‘Mame’, Anita in ‘West Side Story’, Doris in ‘Same Time Next Year’, Ouisa in ‘Six Degrees of Separation’, Clairee in ‘Steele Magnolias’, and playing Annie Chapman!!! After 10 years of NOT acting, she says a 15-minute monologue can really rattle you, but that she is thankful for this opportunity.
When asked her thoughts on “Dark Annie’ Chapman’s monologue, Sherri had this to say: When Nina first asked me to take on the role of Annie Chapman, I was thrilled that at 67, I was going to do “theatre” again. (It has been 10 years since I was last on stage). THEN I saw the script. WOW. 15 minutes of a monologue AND with an accent. It was such a challenge but I finally did it and so appreciated the opportunity. I have always enjoyed doing film work as well as performing on stage. This was quite fun though with only 2 weeks of studying, filming for 30 minutes, and you are finished with the project.
But now I miss Annie! What a character I was fortunate enough to bring back to life, or death!! She had spunk, edgy charm, and her own unique take on life. Learning her dialogue and putting it into perspective in order to capture her was like peeling an onion, lots of layers. I appreciate the writing of Wayne Miller so much, the direction of Nina Soden, and the opportunity to get to know “Dark Annie Chapman”.

Actress Tanja Lewis Miller
Tanja Lewis Miller is honored at the opportunity to reprise the role of Polly Nichols and to, once again, give her a voice. Involved in theatre since childhood, she has acted in and/or directed and/or produced countless productions in North Alabama. Like, literally, she can’t remember how many. She is the co-owner of Evil Cheez Productions, along with her highly creative hubby Wayne, and it’s a safe bet you’ve seen her on the stage somewhere. Much love to Nina and the rest of the amazingly talented cast for allowing her to share the airwaves with them. And a huge thank you to YOU, the audience, for helping to keep theatre alive.
When asked her thoughts on Polly Nichols’ monologue, Tanja had this to say: As the playwright’s wife, I was allowed to read all of the monologues before anyone else, and I fell in love with Polly from her first line, “Do you like my new bonnet?” She’s an optimist. She’s not going to let her situation drag her down. She’s strong, stubborn, and she uses her quick wit as a defense mechanism. She doesn’t defend her faults, but she doesn’t dwell either. She’s someone I can relate to. She’s someone EVERYONE can relate to.
When asked about the process of performing virtual theatre, she said: As far as the process, I’ll take a live audience any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I’m not the biggest fan of being on film. However, I’ll also take theatre any way I can get it. Call me an addict, if you will, but once the acting bug bit, I became a lifer. I will say that Nina made it as painless as possible, and it’s always a joy to work with her.
